About the Journal

The Journal of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (JAFES) is an open-access, peer-reviewed, English language, medical and health science journal that is published two times a year by the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES). Its editorial policies are aligned with the policies of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (www.icmje.org), and resolve ethical issues using recommendations and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). It is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and CrossRef.

JAFES welcomes manuscripts on all aspects of endocrinology and metabolism in the form of original articles, review articles, case reports, feature articles (clinical practice guidelines, clinical case seminars, book reviews, et cetera), editorials, letters to the Editor, brief communications and special announcements. Authors may include members and non-members of the AFES.

Articles and any other material published in the JAFES represent the work of the author(s) and should not be construed to reflect the opinions of the Editors or the Publisher.

*Beginning in 2025, minimal Article Processing Charges (APC) will be implemented for article submissions to support our editorial office operations. JAFES remains fully open access, with no fees for downloading or subscriptions required to access scholarly content.

Second Announcement: Article Processing Charge (APC) Waiver Policy

2025-01-08

Purpose

This policy aims to outline the principles and procedures for granting Article Processing Charge (APC) waivers to ensure equitable access to publication opportunities for authors, particularly from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Policy Overview

JAFES is committed to supporting researchers and authors from underserved regions, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede the dissemination of valuable research. In line with this commitment, JAFES will consider APC waiver requests on a case-by-case basis, using the Research4Life list of eligible countries as a guiding framework.
